🔍 Overview

This page explains how Binderlyst handles your data. Binderlyst doesn't collect personal information, show ad banners, or sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes. By default your collection stays on your device. The app uses limited, anonymous analytics and crash reporting to improve reliability (see below), and only goes online to look up card data from a public database, to back up your data to your own Google Drive if you choose, or to contribute anonymized community stats if you turn that on.

• No account required to use the app.
• No ad banners, and no ad network or ad SDK in the app.
• Anonymous usage analytics & crash reporting, used only to improve the app.
• Optional Google Drive backup, fully under your control.
• Optional, anonymous community-stats contribution, off unless you turn it on.
• Free, with an optional cosmetic supporter subscription billed through Google Play. Some buy links are affiliate links; they're clearly marked and can be turned off.

📷 Camera Access

Binderlyst asks for camera access so you can scan physical trading cards. When you tap the Scan button, the app reads text from the card image using on-device recognition. Nothing is uploaded or saved. The image exists only in memory for the moment it takes to identify the card, then it is gone.

• Camera is only used when you actively tap Scan.
• No photos are saved to your device or sent anywhere.
• If you would prefer not to grant camera access, all other features still work.

📦 Your Collection

By default, your collection data is stored locally on your device. Binderlyst has no built-in account system, and by default no server receives your cards, so your collection isn't accessible to the developer. The one exception is the optional Community Stats feature described below: only if you turn it on, the app sends anonymized card details (never your full collection, and nothing that identifies you). If you uninstall the app, locally stored data is removed with it, unless your device's Android auto-backup is enabled, in which case some data may be backed up to your Google account independently of this app.

You can also back up your data to your own Google Drive (see Google Drive Backup below), and you can export your collection at any time using the in-app export options. CSV, Excel and PDF are all supported.

☁️ Google Drive Backup

Binderlyst offers an optional backup feature that saves a copy of your data to your own Google Drive, so you can restore it if you lose or change your device. This only happens when you choose to sign in with Google and tap Back up (or enable automatic backup). It is off until you turn it on.

• What's backed up: your collection, decks, folders, saved reports, dashboard layout, app settings, and any dashboard attachments, saved as a single backup file in your Drive.
• Binderlyst uses the limited drive.file permission. This means the app can only see and manage the backup file it creates. It cannot see, read, or touch any of your other Google Drive files.
• The backup is stored in your Google Drive, not on any Binderlyst server, and the developer has no access to your backup or your Google account.
• Your Google account email may be shown inside the app to indicate that you are signed in. This is stored only on your device and is never sent to the developer.
• You stay in control: you can sign out, turn off backup, or delete the backup file from your Google Drive at any time.

Once data is in your Google Drive, Google's handling of it is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

🌐 Internet & Scryfall

The app connects to the internet to look up card information from Scryfall, a free and open trading card database. When you scan or search for a card, a query is sent containing only card identifiers such as a card name or set code. No personal information is ever part of those requests.

• Network requests are made to Scryfall's servers for card data and card images.
• Card images are loaded from Scryfall each session and are not stored permanently on your device.
• No ad network or ad SDK is used in the app.

📊 Analytics & Crash Reporting

To understand how the app is used and to find and fix bugs, Binderlyst uses Google's Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. This collects limited, aggregated technical information. It never includes your collection, the cards you save, or anything that personally identifies you.

• Usage events such as screen views and in-app actions (for example: scanning a card, creating a deck, or running a backup).
• Device and app information: device model, operating-system version, app version, and language.
• An approximate (country/region-level) location derived from your IP address, never precise or GPS location.
• Crash diagnostics: the error and a technical stack trace when the app crashes, so it can be fixed.

This data is processed by Google as described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation. It is not used to identify you and is never sold or shared for advertising. The app's advertising identifier is not collected.

🤝 Community Stats (Optional)

Binderlyst can show community insights, such as what percentage of decks run a particular card. These come from players who choose to contribute. Contributing is off by default and does nothing unless you turn on "Contribute anonymized data" in Settings, or tick the optional box when you first set up the app.

When it's on, the app sends a snapshot of your decks, want lists and collection to a Binderlyst database (hosted on Google Firebase), reduced to only the details the stats need:

• For each deck or want list: the format, plus each card line, meaning the card name, deck role, quantity, colour identity, printing (set code) and foil flag.
• For each owned card: the card name, quantity, printing (set code), foil flag and condition grade.
• Your app version, and an anonymous ID (a random identifier created for this purpose, not linked to your name, email or Google account).

What is never sent: your name, email or any account identity; deck names, notes, covers or tags; folders; prices, values, want-list budgets or spend; images; per-card dates; or anything that identifies you or your device beyond that random ID.

To make this possible, the app signs in anonymously through Firebase Authentication. This creates a random, throwaway ID only. There is no account, password or personal detail involved, and it just lets your device update a single record instead of piling up duplicates.

You stay in control: turning the setting off deletes your contribution, so your data leaves the community-stats dataset. Contributions are aggregated with everyone else's to produce the percentages you see; no individual contribution is shown to anyone. This data is processed by Google as described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.

🚫 What Binderlyst Doesn't Collect

Binderlyst does not collect, store on any server, or send to the developer any of the following:

• Your name, password, or any login credentials. When you sign in for backup, that is handled securely by Google, and Binderlyst never sees your password.
• Your precise or GPS location.
• Your advertising ID (its collection is disabled).
• The contents of your collection, decks, or the card data you save. These stay on your device (and, if you choose, in your own Google Drive). The optional Community Stats feature above is the only thing that sends any card data off your device, and only in anonymized form and only when you switch it on.

🤖 A Note on AI

Binderlyst is built with the help of AI tools. They are used for some of its code, some of its artwork, including the supporter styles, and some of its promotional material. Not all of it is made that way, but enough is that it is worth saying plainly. This technology can raise concerns and strong opinions within parts of the community, and that's completely fair. Binderlyst would not exist without it. If this is something that prevents you from using the app, that's understandable, and we hope you find an alternative that works better for you.

🛒 Buy Links & Affiliate Links

Binderlyst shows buy links for cards and sealed products, for example on price tiles in card details and in the New releases section. These are affiliate links to TCGplayer: if you buy something after tapping one, Binderlyst may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Wherever they appear, they're marked with the note "Affiliate links, we may earn a commission."

• Tapping a buy link opens your device's browser, outside the app. Nothing is sent until you tap.
• The link contains only the card or product being looked up and a tag saying which part of the app it came from, so the retailer knows the visit came from Binderlyst. No personal information is included, and the app learns nothing about what you do on the retailer's site.
• Links pass through the retailer's affiliate network (Impact), which may set cookies in your browser so a purchase can be credited to Binderlyst. From that point, TCGplayer's privacy policy and Impact's privacy policy apply.
• You can turn buy links off in Settings, which hides them throughout the app.

💰 Monetisation

Binderlyst is free to use. Its development is supported in two optional ways: the affiliate buy links described above, and Binderlyst Supporter, a paid subscription that unlocks premium visual styles. The subscription is cosmetic only, and no core feature is locked behind it. Neither of these changes what data the app collects about you. The goal remains the same: no ad banners, no unnecessary annoyances, and no paywalls that lock away core features.

💳 Subscriptions & Google Play Billing

If you subscribe to Binderlyst Supporter, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Google is the seller and processes the payment.

• Binderlyst never sees your payment details. Card numbers, billing addresses and similar information go to Google, not to the app or the developer. How Google handles that is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
• The app asks Google Play whether the Google account signed in on your device has an active subscription. The answer is a simple yes or no, plus the plan you are on. It is used only to decide whether the premium styles are unlocked.
• That answer is remembered on your device only, so the styles still work offline. It isn't sent to any server, and it isn't included in analytics.
• No purchase or subscription information is added to the analytics described above, and none is shared with the developer beyond the anonymous, aggregated sales totals Google shows every developer in the Play Console.

Cancelling, refunds and billing questions are handled through Google Play. There is a link to your Play subscriptions in the app's Settings.

📝 Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the effective date at the top of the page will be revised. Any changes that meaningfully affect how data is handled will be communicated through an app update.
